Dorm Alpha

Ghostly images would dance across the walls of the space in the mind's eye of what was being pictured for the possibilities.

Xanthe's stomich grumbled.
"But first, I need to head back to the dining hall so I can eat" she said, then she headed down the loft stairs and out the door to the dining hall.

Due to a minor technical glitch in the simulation room by Palladium, the lights in Alpha and other dorms flicker on and off, creating a sharp buzzing for over a minute before it subsides and all returns to quiet.

When the lights started to flash Photonis woke up immediately. Noise she could sleep through, but the light tantalized her. Bloodshot eyes opened and a wave of nausea briefly washed over her as the shock to her system was processed. With a lumberjack's grunt Photonis hoisted herself up, combed her messy hair with her fingers into a slightly lesser mess and still sported the same clothes she was wearing last night. Once she was properly conscious the buzzing had already ceased, but sleep has departed. So she lumbered outside, headed towards the dining hall.

In Xanthe's mailbox sits an envelope with a letter in it.

Having showered and dressed in jeans, a long sleeve shirt with a jeans jacket and sneakers, Noko grabs her notebook and pencils, readying herself to leave for class. The last two weeks hadn't been terrible and she enjoyed spending time with the people she did meet. Looking to her desk clock, the silver haired girl sees the time and quickly makes her way out of the dorm to the history classroom.

Xanthe zoomed out of her room, with her backpack. She stopped next to the mailbox, and quickly checked. She noticed a note for her, grabbed it and slipped into her pocket. She probally read it before class started. With a flick of a wrist, she darted out of the dorm to class.

Nabbing her notebook from her bed, Snow slowly chomps on a poptart since it was an early class. She looks back to check if she had forgotten anything and quickly spins on her heel, heading out of the dorm.

Xanthe entered and threw her bag onto the dorm's couches and ran into her room. She slammed the door behind her.

With the door slamming shut she sat bolt upright and ready to fight. Quickly she relaxed again though she muttered some mild profanity about being woken up, and then some more when she realized she overslept. Having slept in her faded orange day clothes by lack of options, Photonis immediately headed into the dorm to check what was going on, to find an empty common room.

Xanthe peeked out of her door.
"Sorry about that" she muttered.

Photonis briefly shook her head. "Why fly the door like that?" She asked, not even bothering to aknowledge the apology and neither seeming mad. "Is something wrong?"

"They......they talked about a cult.....and Daphne said something about what we been through!" the girl replied, "Both are connected!"

"So what you had a scuff with 'em," Photonis stated dryly. "So what's the problem? You want to know your enemy, don't you?"

"They problem is....that we found out the name of the cult, and the leader is already dead" Xanthe replied, "I still get nightmares about it."

"Why does it bother you?" she asked with a confused expression. "The dead never bother anyone," she then looked at Xanthe and gasped. "It was your first, wasn't it?"

"Yeah.....and we got away form it scott free. I....I..." then Xanthe began to cry.

"Sounds to me your first kill could have gone worse. Mine was a complete mess," Photonis says almost as if remembering it fondly of all possibilities. "Anyways, what's the problem?"

"No, no, no, no! Most of the dorm got attacked a couple of weeks ago" Xanthe exclaimed, "but I couldn't do anything at all. I was helpless....I was...."

Photonis looked like she was disappointed for a brief moment before shaking her head. "You should practice," she stated severaly, leaving no room at all for suggestion. "But any fight you walk away from, is a good fight."

"But how? I only gained my powers recently and I don't know how to control them" Xanthe stated, then sniffed.

"There are more ways to fight that with magic," Photonis stated factually. "If magic doesn't work, you shouldn't freeze. Have a plan b."

"It was my first battle. I had no idea what to do" Xanthe replied, "It happened so fast...."

Photonis sighed deeply. "Ahhw," she said as if Xanthe's first battle was cute. "You'll get used to it, or not..."

"I hope so" Xanthe sighed.
