Re: Rosebush island
With phone in hand, Roll stops at the end of the dock and looks around. His gaze falls on the beach and takes a quick picture with his phone. He looks back to see if Kiko was there, "Ready for a bit of exploring?"
Re: Rosebush island
the bunny made for the beach quicker than a bullet out of a gun, the bunny had wanted to go there more than anywhere else. The bunny comfortably sunk in the loose sand making up the beach as sunbeams beat on him from above. Due to the dark color of the soil the warmth became sweltering.

"We'll I guess using the beach is first on our docket." Deciding to follow the bunny, the young man steps onto the darken sand, walking over to the bunny. Stopping just before it, Roll bends down to touch the sand to just feel its consistency.
Re: Rosebush island
The moment Roll set foot on the island it felt as if the entire island shivered and despite the roll, an icy shiver went through him as well. Strangely, everyone else including Kiko didn't seem to notice.

Re: Rosebush island
Roll teeth chatter for a moment at the icy feel, but he would ignore it for now. That shiver probably didn't mean anything right? He would continue to test the feeling of the sand, but also looks around to see if there was anything of interest nearby.
Re: Rosebush island
Kiko hopped over to Roll, dancing on its two feet as the ground below turned out to be a little above Kiko's threshold for heat.

Re: Rosebush island
Just off the docks a signpost stood with signs pointing in different directions. One said "village" one said "rosebush" and the last said "Talon rocks"
The rosebush lead to the center of the island, the talon rocks to the east and the village to the west. Roll now finds himself on the south side of the island.

Re: Rosebush island
Roll drops the sand back to the beach and looks at Kiko's hopping about in front of him, "Guess we'll go to a normal beach for ya when we get out of here." He bends to his knee to slowly pick Kiko up and think of giving Kiko the first selection of their destination, "Well where should we go first based on those signs? The village, talon rocks and Rosebush?"
Re: Rosebush island
Kiko looked at the signpost and pointed vaguely in the direction of the talon rocks. It clearly had no idea on what was what.

Not far off from the signpost there was a stand with a sign saying: "Guided tours"
A lot of people seemed to buy the tour as the stand was very crowded.

Re: Rosebush island
"Then to Talon rocks." Roll mutters and starts down the path. He soon stops upon seeing the guided tour sign, but frowns at it. A guided tour wouldn't be what he needed right now, they only took you places they wanted you to go and he wished to be able to go off the beaten path. Ignoring the crowd, Roll continues down the road without much thought to the tour group.
Re: Rosebush island
The landscape is monotonous, you know it's not supposed to be a desert, yet it looks like one. Getting further inland the heat gets worse as the cooling effect of the ocean's breeze diminishes. The next sign reads that there are 3 kilometers remaining to Talon's rocks.
Here and there are concession stands selling water at ridiculous prices. Most people are traveling in guided groups, those who did travel alone were either weathered travelers. thrill seekers, and the ghost hunters who apparently took the same path after getting off the ferry.

Re: Rosebush island
What exactly happened here to make to make it likes this? It's almost like an effect that turned Domino an oversized snow globe. Roll thinks to himself as he stops to set Kiko down and take off his backpack. Opening it up, he pulls out two water pouches that was from the Owl's supplies. He opens one up and hands it to bunny, then opens one for himself and sips on it. Best to stay hydrated in this rather odd heat.
Re: Rosebush island
As Roll's pace slackened a little the ghosthunters caught up. They were so preoccupied by arguing who's fault is was that all their equipment was malfunctioning that they didn't even notice Roll in their passing.
Other than that oddity the path snakes through dunes of dark gray sand, strangely the path looked well kept. And eventually sharp curved monoliths emerges from the top of sand dunes ahead. passing those would reveal four large curved stones poking out a whopping fifty meters from where they protruded the surface. Towards the tips they curves a bit more and ended in a sharp point, like the talons of a massive bird of prey.

Re: Rosebush island
After getting underway again and making a comment to himself about the state of the road vs everything else, he comes to a stop against to whistle at the monoliths and the curved stones. Thinking a moment, the young man walks carefully over to one of the monoliths to inspect it.
Re: Rosebush island
As Roll gets closer he would occasionally notice the wind surging through the talons causing an ugly and unharmonic whistle. Upon closer inspection the four talons varied slightly in height and girth, making each of the talons produce their own unique pitch and frequency of whistle.
To the touch, Roll would find these talons are actually metallic of nature, though what kind of metal was impossible to tell. The surface felt sleeker than any kind of stone Roll has ever touched or felt, even sleeker than most metals really.
There were signs next to the talons numbered 1 to 4 making a 4 part story about the history as recorded about the formation of the talons.

Kiko looked slackjawed at the marvelous rock formation but would cringe and cover its ears every time the wind howled. He definitely disliked it.

Re: Rosebush island
While the unharmonic whistle made Roll feel a bit uneasy, he would gulp slightly upon touching the talon. Finding them to be metallic, he wondered if he could trying to run some of his magic through it. He ignored the signs for now and would try to transfuse some magical energy into it.
Re: Rosebush island
The instance Roll did what he did the equipment of the ghost hunters spiked a reading again. Now they looked legitimately spooked as they tried to find the source of their reading.
The strangest thing happens to Roll's magic, it feels as if it's drained somewhere deep deep underground, conducted by these talons. Roll would feel this thing going on for miles and miles under the entire island, forming an almost tree like root system except for what Roll estimated must be the center of the island, judging by the pattern he felt underground.
This vastness would mentally stun Roll momentarily, though he'd retain a clear memory of the experience.

Re: Rosebush island
Roll sways on the spot for several moments, but soon comes back to his senses, speak softly to himself and Kiko. "Not doing that again that's for sure. There is some weird network with these talons, but not at the center of the island for some reason. Guess we'll be going underground here at some point. I think we should get out of here ASAP, this whistling is really bugging me." He moves away from the talon and would look at the signs near each of them to grasp the history of them.
Re: Rosebush island
The bunny nodded affirmatively and just kept his ears shut at all times. No this place wasn't bunny friendly at all :<|

Re: Rosebush island
As soon as Roll stopped channeling his magic the equipment would return to its previous state. The ghostbusters slapped the things on the sides in hopes to get another reading but... nothing. They both became very still and pale. The cameraman looked confused, this seemed to be off their normal spiel one way or another.
The signs would explain how the island's inhabitants used a tainted source of magic and got corrupted, but eventually saviors drove the tainted mages away. Records show that these talons were formed in a last ditched effort by the tainted mages to drive off the heroes who liberated the world from this taint. Rumor has it someone escaped, and the whistling caused thy the talons are the villagers screaming for the escaped person; begging to help and save them.

Re: Rosebush island
Roll taps his chin for a moment and begins to wonder about this history. This history could have been altered to show things were dark here. he also wondered about the original historical sources as well. He decides to take a picture of each sign just for his own reference and a picture of one of the talons as well.
"Well, this just leads to a deeper mystery. Time to get out of here, but we may have to return later if we find any clues." Without another word, Roll quickly leaves, heading back down the road. He begins to think about heading for the village next as the next likely source of finding something.

Re: Rosebush island
back on the path, heading for the village on the other side of the island it was Kiko who suddenly got restless and tried to get Roll's attention for some reason.
